Dear Members and friends,

A belated Happy New Year to you all and I hope that this January newsletter finds you all well.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the reunion and once again thanks must go to Ann Taber who organised the event. We all enjoyed a very interesting talk by Jackie Smith-Autard entitled ‘How Technology Can Aid Dance Performance and Composition’

We are pleased that our new website is now up and running – www.londoncollegeofdance.com.

It is a Members’ only site and former students will have to register to read and make comments and posts and to make contact with other members. Please do visit the site and add your news – photographs will be most welcome.

Non-members who come to the site will be able to view all its content except the posts and comments that the members make. They will have to login to read more.

With regards to the re-establishment of London College, talks which took place with the ISTD last year unfortunately did not develop into anything positive. We are now actively investigating the possibility of integrating appropriate course content with a newly validated dance education degree course in a university. This would provide a promising solution in respect of developing a degree course which has some similarity to our former London College course. At the same time we are still considering the option of starting up an independent institution. Both of these options will require funding – especially the latter. If anyone has any contacts or is willing to help with fund raising, we urgently need to hear from you and would be most grateful for your help.

News articles for the main newsletter should be sent to Sue Curry at 11 St Mary’s Gardens, Bagshot, Surrey GU19 5JX or by email to suemarkendale@hotmail.com by the end of May.

The LCDN subscription of £12 is due this month and a cheque can be sent to Ann Taber. Please contact us at lcdn@live.com and we will put you in touch with Ann, who will be happy to send you the relevant forms or provide you with an address to send your subscription.

The next AGM will be on Saturday 1 September at St George’s Hotel, Langham Place and further details will be both on the website and in the summer newsletter.

Many of you still receive a hard copy of this newsletter through the post. With the recent large rises in the cost of postage it would be very advantageous to send an electronic copy of the January newsletter by e-mail instead. If you have an e-mail address and would be happy to receive your newsletter in this form, please inform me and we will be delighted to add your name to our electronic circulation list.

Finally, please do inform us of any changes in your contact details.

With all good wishes

Patricia Snowdon
